I'm Sydney Sultemeier, and my art journey began in the gorgeous Texas Hill Country, where I was raised on a ranch surrounded by nature. It was here, during my early years, that I learned to love drawing the world around me.
Over time, I started learning how to depict colors and forms in various mediums, including acrylics, colored pencils, charcoal, and pens. I developed an appreciation for depicting seemingly ordinary objects that others might overlook. Whether it's every minuscule piece of bark on a driftwood fragment or the intricate details of weathered bones in the middle of a ranch pasture, I have a passion for illuminating the beauty of every aspect of nature that awaits an artistic eye. My passion for art also stemmed from my fondness for rendering the personalities of animals.
This is a 7"x10" charcoal commission that I completed. I have a tuxedo cat who was more than happy to model for me while I completed this picture.
This piece is an example of the reductive charcoal method. This involves covering your entire piece of paper with charcoal and erasing the actual drawing.
